HALBIERUNGSINITIATIVE - our reasons for voting NEIN / NON / NO / NA
// accepting the initiative weakens democracy because journalism needs time. in our world time is unfortunately equivaltent with money. deep research and providing valuable information don’t generate money and therefore need to be subventioned
// accepting the initiative weakens democracy also because it means that it allows billionaires a monopoly by controlling private media. this is undemocratic, and already happening (billionaire family blocher controls 30 regional media in switzerland)
// accepting the initiative weakens culture coming from Switzerland as national TV and radio play 40% Swiss music and create jobs and visibility in the cultural sector which is already underfunded
// the requested 200 francs/household/year would be enough if Switzerland was not multi-lingual. the reason that Switzerland’s TV and radio sector is more expensive than in surrounding countries is because every language region is served, thus the larger German speaking part pays in solidarity for the other parts of the country
// the people who started the initiative are the same who tried to push for the full abolition of State radio and TV back in 2018. the goal is to weaken broad debate and representation, nothing else (it's not about citicens saving money)
// our world is over-privatized. the marked logic doesn’t work for culture and information. we need as many common grounds and free spaces for all as possible. no gated communities, no private playgrounds. we need to protect the common spaces we still have, and create new ones. people can push for changes in formats and channels of the public broadcast, and maybe there should be more activism to do so. but it’s currently considered a centered format - in other words, overall too right-wing and conservative for us lefties, too left for right-wingers and conservatives
// we therefore should handle this institution with the care it deserves, and yes, we can push to reform it as it’s role is to serve the people

HALBIERUNGSINITIATIVE – unsere Gründe für ein NEIN / NON / NO / NA
// Eine Annahme der Initiative schwächt die Demokratie, weil Journalismus Zeit braucht. In unserer Welt ist Zeit leider gleichbedeutend mit Geld. Gründliche Recherche und die Bereitstellung wertvoller Informationen bringen kein Geld ein und müssen daher subventioniert werden.
// Eine Annahme der Initiative schwächt die Demokratie auch, weil sie überreichen Menschen ein Monopol durch die Kontrolle privater Medien ermöglicht. Das ist undemokratisch und geschieht bereits (die Milliardärsfamilie Blocher kontrolliert 30 regionale Medien in der Schweiz).
// Eine Annahme der Initiative schwächt die Kultur der Schweiz, da das nationale Fernsehen und Radio 40 % Schweizer Musik spielen und Arbeitsplätze und Sichtbarkeit im Kultursektor schaffen, der bereits unterfinanziert ist.
// Die geforderten 200 Franken pro Haushalt und Jahr wären ausreichend, wenn die Schweiz nicht mehrsprachig wäre. Der Grund dafür, dass der Fernseh- und Rundfunksektor in der Schweiz teurer ist als in den Nachbarländern, liegt darin, dass alle Sprachregionen versorgt werden, sodass der größere deutschsprachige Teil solidarisch für die anderen Teile des Landes aufkommt.
// Das Initiativ-Kommittee ist dasselbe, das bereits 2018 versucht hat, die vollständige Abschaffung des staatlichen Rundfunks und Fernsehens durchzusetzen. Das Ziel ist es, die breite Debatte und Vertretung zu schwächen, sonst nichts (es geht nicht darum dass Menschen Geld sparen).
// Unsere Welt ist überprivatisiert. Die Marktlogik funktioniert nicht für Kultur und Information. Wir brauchen so viele gemeinsame Grundlagen und Freiräume für alle wie möglich. Keine Gated Communities, keine privaten Spielplätze. Wir müssen die gemeinsamen Räume, die wir noch haben, schützen und neue schaffen. Die Menschen können auf Veränderungen in den Formaten und Kanälen des öffentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunks drängen, und vielleicht sollte es mehr Aktivismus dafür geben. Aber derzeit gilt es als zentristisches Format – mit anderen Worten: im Schnitt zu rechts und konservativ für uns Linke, zu links für Rechte und Konservative.
// Wir sollten daher mit dieser Institution mit der gebotenen Sorgfalt umgehen, und ja, wir können auf ihre Reform drängen, da ihre Aufgabe darin besteht, den Menschen in der Schweiz zu dienen.
